| Symbol 923 Barcode Scanner Module | ||||||||

These are Symbol 923 series 'Scan Engine' barcode scanner modules. Each of these modules is a completely self-contained barcode scanning system with mirror, laser, decoder, and a built in controller that reads the barcode data and transmits the contents of the barcode over a TTL-level serial connection. The 923 can decode numerous barcode formats, including UPC/EAN, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, Interleaved 2 of 5, Codabar and MSI Plessey symbologies. The serial connection to the 923 is bidirectional, allowing for the scan parameters to be customized, and the module includes outputs for attachment of a beeper and scan success LED that can be triggered as needed. These are hard to find on the surplus market, and almost never appear at this price. This is a tiny aerospace hour meter, new old stock, tested and working. Diminutive hour meters like this were mounted in individual pieces of test equipment and circuit modules so the runtime of each board or plug-in unit could be tracked separately for scheduled maintenance. The meter is truly small, with a size of 12mmx12mm and a length of 29mm, you could fit dozens of these in the footprint of a traditional Haydon hour meter. This meter is rated at 115V 400HZ, and consumes 0.1 watts. This unit will run at 60hz line voltage, but it would be useless as a timer at this frequency since the line frequency is also used as the timebase for the motor. General Time Corp 'Filmstrip'-style clock movement, new old stock with minor shelf wear. This device is a four-digit clock module that uses plastic film belts to display numbers. The device uses three belts, a single 12 position belt displays the hours positions, while two single digit belts display the two numbers in the minutes position. A small numbered wheel displays seconds and rotates continuously when the clock is in operation, the minutes and hours change position over a five second period immediately after the seconds wheel rolls over to zero. The module includes an alarm function, which closes a set of contacts when the alarm is tripped. Two thumbwheels on the front of the device control the setting of the time and alarm. This module is powered by an attached 120VAC synchronous motor, and can be connected directly to a 120 volt wall outlet. The filmstrip display belts have translucent numbers and can be backlit by LED's, as this photo illustrates. This device is a variable brightness cover for an incandescent pilot light indicator. Rotating the bezel opens and closes the triangular apertures in the top of the indicator, controlling the amount of light leaving the device. This model of cover was used in various military aircraft as well as industrial control systems. Items are new old stock; outside diameter of cover is 14mm. This is a Durant uniselector with minor shelf wear, tested and working. These are 10 position electromechanical indicators that also output their state electrically on a 10 position rotor. The 10 position rotor can be used to drive a Nixie tube electro-mechanically, or any other display that works based on 1 of 10 selection. These can also be used as standalone displays since the current digit is visible through a window in the front of the device. There is also a second smaller rotor inside that closes separate pads on the 9 and 0 position for use as a digit carry function. It takes a 20 volt pulse to cycle one of these to the next digit, and the pin connections are printed on the back of each readout. If you ever wanted to build an electromechanical or 'no semiconductor' Nixie clock, these will make the task considerably easier!
